Karan Daryanani

  • Economic Analysis and Data Management (EADM) Fellow

Karan joined Harvard’s Growth Lab as an Economic Analysis and Data Management Fellow (EADM) in 2024.At the lab, Karan uses network science and machine learning approaches to study how economies diversify and restructure in response to large-scale transitions. Prior to this role, Karan was a research fellow at Harvard Business School, where he developed methods for using novel sources of digital data, such as text and satellite imagery, for research in climate finance.

In his early career, he commercialized climate technology ventures at Fashion for Good and Yunus Social Business, and developed analytics tools for materials circularity at Closed Loop Partners.Karan holds a master’s degree in International and Development Economics from Yale University, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Politics, and Sociology from Christ College, Bangalore.His research interests are in innovation, economic geography, and computational methods for social science.
