Development in Practice: The Case of the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development

May 20 | 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

Democracy Lab AB (R414 AB) – Rubenstein 4th Floor

An introduction to Australia’s flagship economic development programme in Cambodia, CAPRED (Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development). The session will focus on CAPRED’s Policy Hub; an advisory team that works with government to support policy implementation.

The Policy Hub operates on a demand-driven basis; taking on specific, time-sensitive problems as they arise and working through them in a practical way. Its approach centres on identifying the binding constraints across the policy cycle; from problem diagnosis and option development through to implementation and monitoring.

Please register in advance. Room attendance is permitted for the Harvard community. Lunch will be provided.

Bendith Ly is an Economic Policy Advisor at the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED). He holds a Master’s in urban development from the Technical University of Berlin and brings a broad international perspective to his work, with experience across Cambodia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Egypt. His work focuses on economic policy and applied development economics, with particular emphasis on industrial development and competitiveness, as well as the trade, investment, and enterprise agenda.

The Growth Lab’s “Development Talks” is a series of conversations with policymakers and academics working on economic growth and development in countries, regions, states, and cities in the US and around the world. The seminar provides a platform for practitioners and researchers to discuss both economic growth and development and analytical work centered on policy.
