Chuck McKenney

As the Director of Communications and Outreach for the Growth Lab at Harvard Kennedy School, Chuck leads communications strategy and oversees content and branding, research dissemination, social media, and media relations. He also manages the distribution of all research publications, including placement in repositories such as Harvard DASH and RePEc, and ensures that all published materials comply with Harvard’s accessibility standards.

During his tenure at HKS, he was nominated to serve on three school-wide initiatives: the Digital Blueprint Strategy team (an effort to assess the ways the HKS community uses technology), the Website Redesign Project team (work that included setting a collective vision and voice for the school, content strategy, user experience, site architecture and more), and the Website Advisory Group (working to define the vision and future direction for HKS external website and intranet). He and other members of the Website Redesign Project team were awarded the HKS Dean’s Award in 2017 for their collaborative work over 18 months to design, develop, and implement a new public website for the school.

Previously, he spent nearly a decade producing television news programs for WBZ-TV in Boston. During his time as Managing Editor for Citizens Count, a New Hampshire nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting civic engagement, he helped launch a comprehensive database of hundreds of elected officials.

He holds a BS in Mass Communications from Emerson College.
